ROY

ROY If you want to punish someone then recommend them to watch this! Oh God! What a terrible terrible movie! And just so you know I fell asleep in the midst.... Ha ha ha It WAS that terrible. The story premise is good enough. A writer - director gets a writers block and his protagonists are then frozen in time until the writer unfreezes! But the director got it so horribly wrong.... And the he had the cheek to end it all by saying a film by Vikramjit Singh .... Gosh if I had made something so terrible I never ever would put my name to it... 2 such bad movies in 2 weeks... Bollywood you are descending into the realm of grandiose ideas with utterly flawed execution... To be experimental is just peachy. Look how well Queen and Lunchbox worked. As did Haider.  But if you can't follow through then please don't put out a product with big name stars and inveigle poor unsuspecting souls like us to come to the theatres and waste our time and money. Silent Bystanders. ....

At times one sees people behaving in the most despicable way and one itches to say something. I witnessed such a wrong being perpetrated today and to my utter shame I just stood by and then later mutely walked away. Yes, there were others present and yes someone else could have said something. But none of us did. And neither did I. Exactly what is it that held me back? Maybe the thought that this wasn't my fight or the fact that I wanted to have no rep ercussions coming my way...... Whatever....... I didn't take a stand and I could have..... It's a shame I shall cart around for a while.... I wish I could turn back time, but I can't and knowing that so well today could possibly make me more stronger ahead.... Maybe......

Coffee Shops and the Music Conundrum!

For the life of me, I can never understand why is it that in some Coffee Shops they have one thing playing on the TV screen and another on the stereo! You hear a song and lift your head expecting to see a matching set of events unfolding on the screen and what you actually get is an entirely disparate song reel. And in some coffee shops, there is a sports channel on TV and some random person is singing about how tough life is. Why? Why? Why? smile emoticon And the selection of songs is nothing to boast about either. There is such a gamut of choices and yet the most inane music plays in these shops. And in some malls as well! What is the obsession with this western music? I listen to it all the time but seriously these guys are specialists in digging up rotten music. Why can't they just play good old bollywood? Everyone listens to that and enjoys it and an occasional Himesh nunber has never done nobody no harm! And the volumes that it is played at is also ridiculou

Badlapur

Badlapur The axe forgets…. But the tree remembers….. This beautiful quote kickstarts this movie, which says in its title – Don’t miss the beginning… And boy am I glad that I didn’t…. And before I go any further I must say that I liked the movie though I didn’t love it. It has several flaws, which I could overlook given that it involves some of my favourite people- Sriram Raghavan, Varun Dhawan, Huma Quereshi, Radhika Apte, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta and last but not the least Nawazzuddin….. Shouldn’t we just go ahead and declare Nawazzuddin a national treasure or something? He surely deserves it. What talent! Be it humor- black or otherwise or villainy he sure gets it all right! Can he at least be made to act non-stop so that he makes a gazillion movies for us to watch his spellbinding talent? So this is a revenge saga and it is what Sriram does best… Remember Ek Hasina Thi, Johnny Gaddar? Well this one belongs to that similar genre but does not have the same class. Varu

Giving Up

Some people have Picassos for destinies. Others are handed shards of glass... The sharp contrast of having and wanting is what is gut wrenching. Otherwise a person with shards of glass knows not what is missing. It is only when confronted with a Picasso, that a broken destiny actually realises what is missing. The unravelling of the half knitted knotty garment is a given then.  And it begins as soon as the Picasso is unveiled. Yet, some show the greatest fortitude and immense reserves of strength to serve up enough heat to melt the shards of glass..... Shards can be remodelled to beautiful pieces of glass sculpture.... But where does one summon these reserves of strength from??? Not every broken destiny can be rejoined barring a miracle.... And if divine intervention doesn't occur then ? What a super human effort that requires... Isn't it supremely easier to just let go and let everything shatter to smithereens? Without care to what happens to the world you leave be
