Blast from the Past!!!

One walks through college life with an immense sense of freedom and hopes to conquer the world. Often in the process you rub people the wrong way or people do that to you. What often comes with you for a lifetime is a mixed bag of emotions for that period of your life. And one can carry huge chips on the shoulder. Then suddenly social media introduces or rather re - introduces you to all those classmates. It happened to me to when I was added to a group with my ex - classmates. And I was so filled with trepidation regarding the group that for a few months I absolutely refused to participate in any activity on the group. But as time progressed I have slowly seen more and more of my prior classmates on the group and it has been such a source of delight to me to interact with them, that I am left wondering what it was that made me apprehensive in the first place? The group that I am on is so unconditional in its love and acceptance that all the good I remembered from college has come

HAIDER

HAIDER And that is how a story is told!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The legacy of the Bard is in safe hands with ‘Bard’waj……. Well this is no news if you have seen Maqbool and Omkara. What a story teller the man is! I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen for even a moment. VB is indeed one of the few directors who can take actors of the stature of Tabu, KK Menon and Irfan Khan and do them complete justice. What performances he has elicited form them! Truly stupendous!  And who knew that Shahid could act like this? The backdrop of the story is indeed Kashmir, but not the Kashmir of the romantic tales. It is a Kashmir that lies stark and bare and shows us how people there actually live. The story couldn’t be simpler. It’s a classic tale of revenge. A young boy finds out that his father has been betrayed and he sets out to avenge him. The story is dominated by the utter selfishness of his mother Gazala- played

Bang Bang

Bang Bang …….. all the way! What a blast I had watching the first half of this movie and what a dismal second half! I was utterly captivated by the first ten minutes itself. And what wasn’t to like about that? Jimmy Shergill and Javed Jaffrey were upping the dude factor, and to add to it a rare appearance by Danny had me glued to the screen. Then came the dampener – Ms.Kaif! This actually is where the movie is quite similar to Day and Knight. Both Cameron Diaz and Ms.Kaif look their age. But Cameron Diaz bought goofiness to her character which Katrina just isn’t able to pull off. The style quotient of the movie is off the charts, one of the best shot movies in recent times. The chase sequences are superb. Simla is captured in all its glory. I am not a big Hrithik fan but watching him dance like he does, I could become a convert. Although he does try to bring in a dash of nonchalance, he somehow doesn’t quite pull it off as well as Tom Cruise did. Ah well! But then I can’t i
