The first thing xxx
said to me in the interval was, “Why did they give this movie 4 stars?” And I agreed with alacrity. This movie was
deserving of no less than 5 stars! Its right up there with every epic you can
think of. Think the Mahabharat, think the Ramayan, Think GOT, Think Lord of the
Ring, think of every Amar Chitra Katha you ever read and then mix them all
together, make a laddoo and take a big whopping bite! That for you dear friends
is Bahubali.
It’s EPIC!
What a movie!
There is the well-loved theme of good triumphing over
evil, and there is charm and it is sheer magic. If there is just one movie you
watch in a year then let it be this one. And I am saying this in spite of
knowing what is releasing this weekend. J
Prabhas is just superb. So captivating is he that when he
isn’t on screen you keep awaiting his return. Totally drool worthy. So much so,
that no other actor had much of an impact on me in this movie.
Rajamouli could have so easily been swept up in the
thrill of the special effects, but at no point does he do that and the SFX
remains an adjunct to the story-telling rather than overpowering it. A lost
prince returns to his birth right, is all I am willing to divulge of this fine
tale.
Take your kids and see them enjoy, or else go by yourself
and let the kid in you rejoice.
An unwitting funny point in this movie is the silly
language that the barbarians speak, but that’s ok as they will be slaughtered
and so what they speak doesn’t really matter. J
My favourite moments were the wooing of the lady by the
prince, sheer poetry in motion, also super was the choreography in a dance with
3 presumably Russian dancers, and it was ethereal. Another plus was the
dubbing, it is done very skilfully and the lip movements almost match.
Also wanted to tell you to look out for the silly CGI
sign that comes on in scenes with animals, just told you coz it irritated me no
end and I wanted it to bug you too. Hee hee….
