Has anyone ever been to a high school reunion? Well I have and one goes with the memory of at least one cartoonish character that would play the buffoon and horse around needlessly in an effort to elicit a laugh and be the centre of attention. And then you meet that same person at the reunion and that silly person has now become a surprisingly good humoured corporate kind and is competent, mature and charming.
Well that is exactly what happens when you go to watch BB….
You have a Salman shorn of all his salmanisms. A Salman - who is actually content being an accessory rather than the main draw. He gives up the movie completely to the child actor- Harshali Malhotra and in part- 2 the show is stolen by Nawazuddin. There so many loopholes in the story but one doesn’t ponder on them as the story in this all about the kid and her Bhaijaan.
Well Salman fans rejoice- I did! Bhai has grown up. Hallelujah! 
The songs are surprisingly nice, once you get past Selfie and Chicken, actually I liked Chicken…
Kabir Khan is very competent and squeezes out every drop of emotion he can. The end is as cheesy and corny as you can possibly think. But corn and cheese are a good combination and works really well.
The child actor is very gifted and I hope she ends up having a career in the movies. Nawaz is brilliant. Rajesh Sharma is cast well. And there are other Salman regulars too like Sharat Saxena and the Dabaang havaldar. Kareena Kapoor once again demonstrates that she is a director’s actor and is good in her short role.
The movie is of the perfect length and I really enjoyed it.

Oh and the mandatory shrtless scene is very much there!

The husband played by newbie, Pavail Gulati is wonderfully self-obsessed and completely oblivious to anything but his own needs. The wife played by Tapsee Pannu ( as if we didn't know! The wife being driven about, the girlfriend being received with love and finally a super successful lawyer finding freedom in hanging out a car window. Monica, O My Darling

Straight off the bat, let me tell you that I went into this movie cold. I just saw the trailer and put it on my watch list. I was totally enamored with the cast and the premise. I knew I was going to watch this one, so I didn't delve into the promotional shenanigans.  So if you are of the same bent of mind, stop reading and start watching.  And on your behalf, I did Google Ankola, it is a town in Karnataka and is not to be confused with Akola in Maharashtra. Ha ! Ha! Netflix has been delighting us with gems like Raat Akeli thi, Haseen dilruba and Bulbul. Add this one to that list and think Gehraiyaan. I need not stress on the proficient star cast. They are masters of their craft. Starting with the sneaky Rajkummar Rao, the sultry Huma Quereshi and the wily Radhika Apte, the ensemble includes the creepy Sukant Goel, the beleaguered Zayn Marie and many others.
