Parallel Universes

If one believes in a parallel universe, life is fucking easy.

Koi darr nahi hota, koi galti ho bhi gayi,
Toh kisi aur universe ki kisi aur life mai sahi kar lenge.

Is story mai agar Laila Majnu hain, aur judaii ka namak chakh na hi hamari kismat hai,

Toh kisi aur story mai toh pucca hum Prithviraj Samyukta ban jaate!

Shayad jo hum sapne dekhte hain, wohi hamari parallel life hai. Is liye toh wohi itni zyade achhi lagti hai.

Ek hi zindagi hai aisa soch kar hum hi depress ho jaate hain. Aisa sochein ki kahin aur kisi aur solar system mai humein hamara mukkamal jahan mil gaya hai.

Mere parallel universe mai jhanko zara,
Wahan koi rok tok nahi hai,
Na pyaar jatane mai,
Na ruthne manane mai,
Na haq jatane mai,
Koi tanhai nahi hai aansoo mai bheegi hui,
Koi guilt nahi dil ki baat kehne mai.

Tum meri jaan, mere kis universe mai ho?

Is wale mai?
Ya parallel wale mai?

Socha toh samajh aayi ki do hi shabd hain mujh pe laagu - DISPOSABLE aur DISPENSABLE.
Hai! In gajab labels ko rehne do yahin!

Aur ye pucca karte hain, ek parallel universe dhundh lete hain, aur wohin mil lete hain.

Agar pehchan ne mai dikkat ho toh, meri baazu pe gunta hua apna naam khoj lena!
Ya fir mere chehre pe apne chehre ki jhalak dekh kar tham jaana,
Nahi toh dhyaan se sunna meri jaan, ek dhadkan sunai degi tumhe, tumhare paas aane pe goonjegi jo.
Bas us hi jagah mil jaungi mai.
Aur mil gayi toh fir kisi aur universe ki talaash mat karna.

Monica, O My Darling

Straight off the bat, let me tell you that I went into this movie cold. I just saw the trailer and put it on my watch list. I was totally enamored with the cast and the premise. I knew I was going to watch this one, so I didn't delve into the promotional shenanigans.  So if you are of the same bent of mind, stop reading and start watching.  And on your behalf, I did Google Ankola, it is a town in Karnataka and is not to be confused with Akola in Maharashtra. Ha ! Ha! Netflix has been delighting us with gems like Raat Akeli thi, Haseen dilruba and Bulbul. Add this one to that list and think Gehraiyaan. I need not stress on the proficient star cast. They are masters of their craft. Starting with the sneaky Rajkummar Rao, the sultry Huma Quereshi and the wily Radhika Apte, the ensemble includes the creepy Sukant Goel, the beleaguered Zayn Marie and many others. For me Sikandar Kher was a standout. A shoutout to his intensity and his baritone.  The dialogues are spot on and t...

Razorblade Tears by S A Cosby

This book belongs to the revenge trope and I enjoyed reading it for a reason, other than just the story or the thrills, it was for the delicious turn of phrase, that the author employed. Here are some examples: “It didn’t seem fair for a man to mourn someone so deeply, whom he had loved so miserly!” “Wound on his cheek was weeping like a broken-hearted bride.” “As careful as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.” “Give a man a clipboard and watch his true nature come out.” “He smiled; it was like watching an icicle form.” The story is about two men who are bound by destiny, when their sons who were married, are murdered. The tapestry is enriched by the fact that one family is black and the other is white. Throw in the fact that both the fathers are ex-cons and you have an intrigue on hand. Other than the language I liked the way the conversations were handled and how the characters were revealed by thought, word and deed, rather than extrapo...

Thappad

Thappad The prelude to the aria that is Thappad, is a dizzying runabout of a homemaker's humdrum daily chores. It serves to establish the roles each character has established for themselves. The husband played by newbie, Pavail Gulati is wonderfully self-obsessed and completely oblivious to anything but his own needs. The wife played by Tapsee Pannu ( as if we didn't know! Ha ha!) is on the other end of the spectrum. She is hyper aware of the needs of all those around her and revels in being needed and being able to be of service. The nuances that are written into the script are sheer brilliance. Consider the opening montage introducing the main characters to us. The wife being driven about, the girlfriend being received with love and finally a super successful lawyer finding freedom in hanging out a car window. The conversation that ensues between all of them, sketches skillfully the back stories of the lot of them. The movie is far from being a chest beating comment...
